Dotterel for the house list!

I noted on Birdguides that an oddity had been spotted last weekend with Golden Plover a few miles up the road, and having seen large flocks of the latter there earlier today whilst out with the dogs, I took a special interest in a vast flock that had now suddenly descended on 'our marsh' just as I was heading back up the road. Imagine my delight when, as I scanned through them from our driveway, the local rarity in question suddenly appeared through the lens - species 111 for the house list! Much to my frustration, the whole flock took off as my wife arrived but, determined to relocate the bird, I drove up the road and managed to pick it out again at around 3pm on the mudflats - at some distance - and phoned my wife and daughter who arrived just in time to see it. Later on, I relocated it again, much closer this time and with no one around I crept up to the flock and managed to get some rather satisfying images just as dusk set in - a real thrill!
