Stunning Sparrowhawk & Sunset

Mar 3, 2018
1 min read

With the snow starting to thaw at last, raptors were out in force - Barn Owl (2), Buzzard (numerous), Kestrel and Sparrowhawk (2). One of the latter species posed magnificently on the riverbank and once the strong sunlight had given way to reddish hues, I turned my attention to photographing the source of light rather than the subject it was illuminating. And as luck would have it, the Barnacle Geese took off in front of me and passed in front of the red-hot celestial body.
