Jack Snipe swimming on the sea?

A stroll round along the local estuary path with my parents was hardly conducive to spotting unusual birds in unusual places but today proved to be the exception: I noticed a smaller bird with Common Snipe, which had been pushed off the rocks by the high tide, but when I focussed in on it, the last thing I expected was Jack Snipe. Bizarre! (And my first definite sighting for the county.) Capturing it on film - swimming and in flight - was a real bonus. If only it had come just a little closer.
